Auditioning Tips For An Actor

Auditioning Tips For An Actor
Description
AUDITIONING TIPS FOR AN ACTOR

*Try and arrive early for an audition. This way you will be able to get relaxed and prepared for the audition. Also you may receive your copy before hand, therefore you will have longer to go over it.
*Try to memorize the first lines of your copy making sure when you do perform it you are ‘getting into the story’.
*Don't hold your script in front of your face. The camera or auditioning panel need to see you, the amount of emotion the facial muscles can portray is phenomenal, don’t go hiding it.
*If you are in a two-person audition. Without directing away from the fact you must interact with this other actor don’t let them throw you off guard, keep focused on your own performance as an actor and character
*Don’t look over at the auditioners and expect a reaction from them, keep focused and be in the moment as a the character you are playing
*Don't overdo the piece when in a read, keep your emotions simple and real.
*If there is a camera being used in the audition, stay on your "mark" until you hear "cut" or "thank you"
*Listen to the auditioners and their directions. You must remember ‘they want you to get the job!’ what they say will be clues on what they want you to do to get the job, listen and take their advice on board.
*If you are asked for a "Sound Check" make sure you deliver your slate or your first line of copy in a clear, distinct voice. Don't do the usual "Testing 1-2-3" – that won’t get you the job!?
*When closing the piece, finish strong and hold the last look for a second or two, and then come back into the real world!
*Thank the person / people who you auditioned for. And you must make sure they have your photo and resume, even if they took a picture of you.
