Description
Drama Centre offers an inspirational, passionate environment for those who are resolutely serious about acting and their careers. An Advisory Council, which includes Sir Anthony Hopkins and leading directors Declan Donnellan, Adrian Noble and Max Stafford-Clark, guides the School's distinctive approach. Drama Centre alumni include: Paul Bettany, Pierce Brosnan, Simon Callow, Frances de la Tour, Colin Firth, Tara Fitzgerald, Geraldine James, Helen McCrory, Omry Nitzan, Adrian Noble, John Simm and Penelope Wilton.

…a European school in the heart of London

Resolutely vocational, the teaching at the Drama Centre integrates European traditions with contemporary British theatre practices, focusing on modern, spirited and penetrating interpretations of the classics. There is an international, well-established staff and distinguished members of the theatre and film professions direct and guide both the stage productions and the considerable recorded drama output.

…a classical school with a modern attitude

Wherever they come from and whatever their background, Drama Centre's unflagging ambition is to empower its students to enter with confidence the great world of the classics. At the same time, the school's easy access to central London theatres, locations and facilities ensures a vibrant, urban, modern atmosphere, reflected in the increasing stress being placed on new writing and television work. The latter is reflected most notably in the orientation of the MA in Performance, which offers post-graduate students a unique course focused on working in film, radio and television.

…an opening to the profession

Drama Centre seeks to develop individualistic, self-reliant, aware and accomplished entrants to the profession. Students are assured of the support and commitment not only of staff and fellow students, but also of the greater Drama Centre 'family', increasingly involved financially, through the Friends of the Drama Centre, and practically, through the 'mentoring' of final year students. Students also benefit from the input of a Careers Advisor who guides the intensive programme of preparation for the profession. In the final stages of their courses, students are encouraged to undertake professional work.
