Kalum Fergus is a young new up a coming writer based in the north east of England.
"Poetry is a great thing and is a piece of a vision of how I see the world and everything around me. It is an exaggeration of an experience and emphasis of an emotion but most of all it is a thing that can’t be changed because it is a moment in itself and you can’t change history"
Kalum has grown up on a farm for the whole of his life. Kalum has a real passion for writing short plays and poetry. His mother Catherine Fergus is a well known in the area running the early learners department at a primary school.
Kalum some time helps his mother in the playgroup and spends a lot time with young children. Kalum started to write poetry for the children at the school a few years ago and this is where his passion flourished. He has now attended several writing courses and is trying hard to get his first children’s book published.
Kalum when writing looks at the world through a Childs eye- every thing new, fresh. Teasing out memories that would connect to a young reader Kalum reflects back to his own childhood and brings them back to life allowing us all to enjoy the moment.
Even though Kalum normally sticks to the conventional styles of writing he also explores and plays around with structure, some times making it hard to read, at first. However, cleverly employing this he makes the reader have to look over the work again, subconsciously making them think about the language used and the meaning behind the words.
Kalum also is a keen young actor and writes short plays to suit his mood. Kalum is also a natural comedian and this is obvious in his work.
