Slating
SLATING
What is Slating?
“To recite one's name and agency prior to an audition. Most commonly used in commercial auditions.”
Your slate marks the tape for the casting director. However it also is your way of introducing yourself to the person who will be making the decisions. You have to remember this may not be any of the people in the room with you while you are auditioning. So remember to keep you energy high.
A good method good delivering a slate is by pretending you are extending your hand to meet someone for the first time.
A TYPICAL SLATE:
"Hello, my name is ________and I am with _________Agency."
Or: "Hello, my name is_____ and I am currently seeking representation."
If you are under 18 years of age, you should state your age and include your Union affiliations, if any.
